The Armidale Railway Museum memorializes the men who built the Great Northern Railway. The Armidale Railway Station was built in 1882 and the first train arrived at the station in February 1883. The railway buildings, with displays of tools, implements, trolleys and trikes, take visitors back to the age of steam engines. The cast iron work, ornamental chimneys and decorative mouldings on the buildings are typical of the period.
